importing music from an audio CD in my CD drive into my virtual Windows XP platform

I just installed Parallels Desktop for Mac on my Intel iMac running OS 10.4.8. I have downloaded iTunes onto my successfully created Virtual Machine, Windows XP Home Edition. I have inserted a purchased music CD into my CD/DVD drive on my iMac. Then I tried to import the songs from the CD into my iTunes library within the Windows XP Home environment. The songs looked like they were importing, but I noticed that they all erroneously stated they were the same length; first clue something was wrong. The songs, although listed correctly, except for the length, will not play in the iTunes library, meaning they aren't really there. The corresponding mp3 files within the "My Music" folder are also not functional mp3 files.

On page 105 of the Parallels manual, it states that "Sound from audio CDs cannot be reproduced."

Does this mean that I am unable to import music from an audio CD in my computer's CD/DVD drive into iTunes or Windows Media Player (which I also tried to use unsuccessfully for this purpose) located within my Virtual Machine?

If so, this is very disappointing, as I have an MP3 player that only works with the Windows platform, and I am supposed to be importing these audio CDs onto this MP3 player as a gift for my sister.

p.s. Regarding above post: there is nothing wrong with the audio CD. I successfully imported the songs on it into the iTunes library on my iMac (Mac OS X environment). But, again, the songs will not import into the iTunes nor Window Media Player libraries on the virtual Windows XP Home environment.

This isn't the most ideal solution but why don't you just rip the songs in your Mac iTunes (using the MP3 Encoder for importing) and then copy the MP3 files over to your Windows VM to sync them to the player?
 
sallyg, what build do you have?
Audio CD support added since build 3094.
So you can play it or import the songs into various formats.
 
Thanks and two more questions

Thanks to both of you for your help with my problem! I upgraded to Build 3150 and now am happily importing audio CDs directly to my Windows VM iTunes library.

Two more questions regarding sharing files between my iMac and my VM:
1. In addition to importing new audio CDs directly to my Windows XP VM iTunes library, I am also transferring existing individual songs from my iMac iTunes library to the new Windows XP VM iTunes library. When I drop the mp3 file directly into the open Windows XP VM iTunes library, the song appears and plays, but then does not appear in my Windows XP VM iTunes Music folder within the My Music folder. Why not?
(I can drop the mp3 files directly into the VM iTunes Music folder with success, but I am curious why dropping them directly into the open iTunes library doesn't create the expected corresponding iTunes Music file.)

2. When I added my iMac Shared folder to my Parallels Shared Folders, I neglected to name it, so now it is named "Untitled," and the rename option does not appear when I select the folder. Also, I am not able to move this Untitled shared folder to the Recycle Bin and start over adding the Shared Folder again with a more appropriate name.
How can I successfully rename this "Untitled" Parallels Shared Folder?

In the iTunes Preferences, do you have the option "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" checked?
