installation issues

Hello all,

I am having a great deal of trouble installing Windows XP on my new MacBook with Parallels. After I sucessfully configure Parallels and activate it, I insert my WinXP disc and then click the Power On Virtual Machine (the green arrow) button. Immediatly my laptop freezes into what I have been told is a Kernel Panic and I get a message prompting me to restart the computer by pressing the Restart Key (which doesn't exist) or by holding down the power button. I can't escape out of this screen and when I restart the laptop I get an error message that Mac OS X has been shutdown improperly and all the configuration I did with Parallels wasn't saved. I tried this 3 times, entering my activation code thrice and each time I got the same "Kernel Panic." Apple refuses to help eventhough I bought both the laptop and the Parallels software today at the Apple store. Can any one please help me? I greatly appreciate any/all help suggestions.

Go back to the Apple store and use their network connection. The boxed version is not compatible with your core 2 duo machine, so there is no other solution.
 
thank you, I am first going to try to download the upgrade on this desktop and put it on a 1gig flash drive I have and see if I can put that in my laptop via the USB connection. If that doesnt work I'll go and use apple's network. I got an e-mail from the Parallel's Tech Support and they say I need to upgrade too, so thanks everyone for the input. I'll post here if I succeeded.
 
Ok I successfully installed Windos XP but now I am having trouble increasing the HD size allocated for Windows apps. I tried using the Image Tool in Parallels but I have no idea what a Source Disk Image is and can't continue until I can find that on my computer. Please advise

This question has been asked and answered so many times on this forum that I've lost count. there's a sticky thread with lots of answers, and I'm tired of typing the same advice over and over. Search and ye shall find.
