Installing Linux (Mandriva)

Hi,

I have a MacBook and successfully run a Parallels VM running WinXP SP2. I thought I'd try dipping my toes into the Linux pond and subsequently downloaded the Mandriva ISO image. I created a VM machine in Parallels (Linux/Mandriva) and pointed it to the ISO image.

Sure enough the machine boots from the ISO but the the OS (Mandriva) boots from CD everytime - i.e. it doesn't actually install the OS to the hard drive!

I don't want to run the OS from the CD everytime - how can I actually install it??!!

This is so frustrating - please help me.

PS: I also tried it with Unbuntu - and the install seems to hang when it gets to "Starting Common Unix Printing System: cupsd"

Hello,

if you are using the Live CD (Mandriva One), there must be an icon on the desktop of your Mandriva which can be used to install Mandriva One to the hard disk.
After installation you should go 'Edit' -> 'Virtual Machine...', 'Options' tab, there select 'Booting' tab. There you should select 'Hard Disk, CD-Rom, Floppy'.
