installing programs

Trying to install new programs through disc drive but told I don't have enough RAM.How do I do this, and can I transfer it to OS 2 and then back and forth?

please define the machine and ram and parent OS that you are using

I have 2gb RAM MacBook pro
500 mb for Parallels
OS 10.4.9
no problem
