Installing Solaris 11/06: Can't get past the login screen

I am doing a fresh installation of Solaris 11/06 on Parallels 3.0 and I can't get past the login screen. I can type in my username but when it asks for my password, nothing happens. The cursor doesn't move. I type anyway and hit return, login rejected. I do it again and hit enter, login rejected. It recognizes the username but not the password. Any thoughts on this?
 
Sounds like a DNS problem, believe it or not. How long does this go on, and what happens next?
