Installing Win Applications for use on MBP

Silly question maybe but do I have to install the Windpws application in the VM in order to use it or do I just have to install the app on the MBP HD? :confused:
 
Thanks for your prompt answer. Don't want to look stupid but don't feel like spoling everything. So I install Vista then from Vista I install ACCPAC? If I ever run into problems reading the installation CD for ACCPAC, will installation be done by first dumping the CD content on the MBP HD?
