Internet problem! Aquiring network address? Invalid IP?

I'm no good with computers, so you guys are going to have to dumb down the computer jargon :-P.

running windows xp fine in parallels but im having trouble connecting to the internet. It shows no problem with the connection but in the connection status, it says "Acquiring network address" and under support the IP address shows as just 0.0.0.0. I'm sure im just overlooking something simple, but any help would be greatly appreciated!

duh, that was silly of me to forget to post those things

build 3036 on my macbook pro picking up a wireless connection (comcast high speed cable internet)
