Is it against the EULA to use the standard Parallels Desktop version for commercial work? The description for that product says "For Home and Student Use," but it's unclear if that is a legal limitation of the software agreement or just a suggestion. In my office, we rarely get projects that require Windows and have no need for the extra features the Pro version offers. We would prefer to have a perpetual license to a yearly subscription.

Hi @DonA3, yes, you can use it! In accordance with the End User License Agreement terms and conditions, a Parallels Desktop for Mac retail license can only be used for activation of Parallels Desktop for Mac on a single Mac machine at a time. In order to use Parallels Desktop for Mac on several Mac machines, you need to purchase the corresponding number of licenses.
As you can see the EULA, 2.1 (b) Consumer Version - Maximum Usage. You may only use a maximum of 5 consumer licenses of the Software within the same company. If you need to use more than 5 consumer licenses within the same company, then you must purchase a business edition license of the Software.
