Is there a serious memory leak in 2x printing?

Hi Guys

We are running :
2x Application Srver & Loadbalancer Console version 6.1 (build 468)
2x Application Server Client version 6.1 (build 467)

When printing from the server, the first couple of reports print fine but then the performance crashes on many different machines. Task Manager shows that used RAM increases with each print so that however much RAM is installed (usually about 1Gb+) disk paging & therefore hopeless printing performance (20 mins per page) begins very soon.

The used RAM is not realeased after each print. Only a re-boot will solve the issue which is not practical - HELP !!

Yes - there definitely is.

By the sounds of it, you are using EMF format? (in the 2X client settings)?

Try changing to use PDF format and the memory leak issues and slow printing performance should go away.

Depending on the type of print job however, you might experience formatting issues with PDF (we do in most cases).

BMP is another option, but not likely to be acceptable due to the extremely high bandwidth required.

Therefore, we're eagerly awaiting the beta release of 6.2 so we can see if the abovementioned memory leaks, formatting errors etc are resolved!
 
I experience the same problem, except it seems in my case to release the memory after the print is done. But as soon as a print-job is being initialized, TSClient.exe starts increasing memory rapidly (up to a few hundred MB's) but afterwards it's being released. Very annoying behaviour, only occurs with EMF, but I'd really not prefer using one of the other formats.

Other universal printing solutions, also based on EMF, don't have these kind of awkward leaks while and after printing. Would be great if this could be fixed asap.

Yes we are using EMF as we did not want to evoke any PDF programmes but will give it a try.

As printing seems to be the only real major drawback to 2x, any indication of timing for new release?

Could you be more specific about "shortly"? We're going to implement 17 servers very soon and really need this major problem to be fixed before rolling out. Thanks!

6.2 Will also speed up the printing if you us EMF format.
