Java issues with Build 5160

I'm running an application using Sun's JRE 1.4.2_04 in Windows XP under Parallels Build 5160 on a MacBook with Core 2 Duo. As soon as I start the application in coherence mode or want to maximize a (java) window in the single window mode, the java vm crashes. I get the same message/stack trace as in this Thread, 1st post.
The rest has the same configuration (DirectX deactivated, OS X 10.4.10, etc.)
Somebody knowing any fixes/workarounds?
 
Yes, it is an old version. Nevertheless a stable one. Because of API changes, the application will not run with Java SE 6.
Never had problems with the same application/JVM when running in Build 4560 or on a "real" machine.
