kernel panic after reenabling one core

i just played around with the extra menu settings avaible from /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/CPU.menu and with it disabled one of my macbooks core2duo cores. that worked fine, but after reenabling the second core i got a kernel panic screen.
i rebooted and it seems that parallels somehow caused the crash. here is the whole report:

What Parallels Desktop build are you using?

You should probably uninstall Parallels, reboot your Mac and repair disk permissions, then reinstall Parallels. See this article.

Well, I think you should reinstall and repair disk permissions. Something seems to have gone wrong when you installed Parallels.

To be sure you have removed Parallels completely, uninstall it by running the following commands in Terminal:

• sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/vmmain.kext
• sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/hypervisor.kext
• sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/Pvsvnic.kext
• sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/ConnectUSB.kext
• sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/Pvsnet.kext
• sudo rm -rf /Library/Parallels/
• sudo rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.parallels.*

Before you run these commands, please make sure that your VM hdd and pvs files are NOT stored in ~/Library/Parallels.

Reboot your Mac. Browse the Applications folder. Open Utilities and launch Disk Utility.
Select Macintosh HD on the left tab and click the Repair Disk Permissions button.

Reboot the Mac again and reinstall Parallels.
