Key to successful install ofFedora 5 !

I found a very strange thing in just installng Fedora Core 5 on my MBP. I tried this distro a few weks ago and I ended up with an agp device bus address error. Well it turns out that Fedora or PD has a little 'issue' with Fedora if you allocate too much memory. When I originally used 900M of RAM as my setting I could never get Fedora to boot. Just for giggles I set the RAM allocation down to 512 and what do you know but Fedora boots perfectly well. Seems like PD has some research and work to do with this RC1 to get this ironed out.
I'd be happy except that Fedora runs noticeably slower that my SUSE install which is using 900 megs of RAM.
Just thought I'd pass this along to any other Linux users out thre. Now if I could just get sound to work in Fedora I'd be all set.

Install In Text Mode

I was completely unsuccessful in installation of FC5 until I stumbled into running a 'text' mode install.

I tried to install on Parallels Desktop release 1842 and 1862 with various memory configurations. Each time, the installation would proceed normally through all of the selection/option screens but when the actual installation of packages ran the estimated 'time to install' was over 500 minutes and regardless of how long I allowed the machine to run it always ended up in a freeze or panic of OS X.

However, running the install in 'text' mode worked perfectly and quite fast.

When the installation CD boots, at the first screen you are given the option to run in graphic mode or text mode.

I installed using the DVD ISO image file and assigned that image file as the CD drive in the VM setup for the FC5 machine.

This was on a MacBook 2.0gHz with 2 gig memory.

My first successful install was when I set the memory for the VM to 128M and the installer chose to run in 'text' mode because there was limited memory. I subsequently also installed successfully with VM RAM set to 256M and specifically chose to run the install in 'text' mode on the installer's initial screen.
