keyboard mapping?

I just installed Solaris 10 in a VM, but can't access the | \ key at all in console mode.

This is on a MacBook Pro.

Any ideas?

I have the same issue on Fedora Core 5.

I could not get the PS/2 Mouse to map on Solaris 10 (mouse just doesn't work at all), so I never got that far with it.

Overall though, the speed is great!

I'm having the same problem with CentOS 4.1 on an iMac with the Apple Pro keyboard. Typing "\" gives me a "<", typing "|" gives me a ">".

That keyboard behavior is what I'm getting in GNOME on Solaris also.

I can't get the mouse to work either.

Same here with WinXP and Italian keyboard. The top-left "\" key is dead, the bottom-left "<" key prints "\".

OK, I fixed this with xmodmap for Solaris:

Using xev I found the keycode for that key is 94.

Putting:
keycode 94 = backslash bar
into a file and then loading that with xmodmap fixes the problem.

if you're on windows XP, there's this great tool to map keys, http://www.randyrants.com/2006/03/sharpkeys_20.html I mapped the key under vol- (the one with a crossed square) to be the caps lock key on my iMac, now the numeric keypad works as it should.
