When I ordered an Ubuntu 7.10 distribution CD I also ordered a Kubuntu 7.10 CD.

This CD boots differently from the Ubuntu one, but no more successfully. The X server does not repeatedly crash as described in another thread. The screen does flash large and black once, then settles down to large and blue; then goes back to the 640x480 terminal screen and the boot process simply hangs.

[10291.383842] Please append a corret "root=" boot option; here are the available partitions:
[10291.383924] Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block)104,1)

[10293.038401] time: pit clocksource has been installed.

    And then nothing....

Have tried installing via the various methods outlined for 7.04 ubuntu with no luck.
    Dies in same places
