I just upgraded to Parallels 9, and am running 2 VMs (not concurrently, giving each of them 3.5Gb of RAM. I have a Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion 10.8.4, with 8Gb of RAM. As soon as I power on any of the VMs, the launchd process shoots up to take most of the CPU cycles. Looking at the Activity Monitor, I see that the process taking up a consistent 91% of CPU is the "Parallels Desktop Control Agent". Running the VM is, ironically, rendering my mac unusable... Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Parallels 8 also had some of this problem, but it seems like the performance has gotten worse with the upgrade to Parallels 9. If there any specific logs that I can share to help with this, I would be happy to provide those.
