I clicked "Upgrade from $69.99" for Parallels Desktop Pro Edition.
I was able to purchase the renewal without providing proof that I already had a license. Once the license was purchased, I wanted to activate it in the app, and that's where Parallels asks me for the new key as well as the old one.
So I put in the key I bought in 2015, and it worked. So the answer to the question (poorly asked, I admit) is that yes, renewal with the advantageous rate works even if my key is several generations old.
In addition, contrary to everything I have been told on the forums, the renewal for next year remains at €69.99. It doesn't go up to €119.99, so that's good news.
