Mac Pro - Curtain of death

Latest version of Parallels installed just fine on the MacPro.

When trying to start my desktop I got a 'gray curtain of death' dropping down from the top of the screen to the bottom and a message that I will have to restart my system (by holding the power button for several seconds).

What gives??

That's what you'll see referred to as a Kernel Panic. Happens when something really bad happens, like an attempt to access protected memory, and the OS X kernel shuts down to prevent damage.

Seach for Kernel Panic around here to find lots of people experiencing them with Parallels on Mac Pro systems. If you are sure you have the latest version (build 1884) then this is most likely because you have more than 3 MBytes of RAM. If you have not updated to build 1884 then you need to do so, or apply the workround to enable 'legacy' 32 bit operation. See nearby threads with Mac Pro in their titles.
 
Same thing

I just installed 2more Gigs of memory. So now i have 3 gigs. I get the Kernel Panic when i am booting up. I'm going to try to limit my ram just to see if supplying the limit fixes the issue. But I had read that I only needed to do it if I had more than 3.5Gigs.

Ahhhh... I also realized that what I did install first was the released version - not the latest beta - so that explains things.

When I installed the latest RC 1884 it works. My only issue now is that while it appears to see my internet there does not appear to be a viable connection (when in Parallels Desktop - regardless of using my WinXP or Ubuntu)
