Make Parallels work with with MAC authentication network?

Greetings,

I am trying to get Parallels Desktop to work on my University's wireless network. For access control, we have to enter our wireless card's MAC address into the university's system. I have my MacBook's AirPort MAC address entered, and the AirPort works fine, but the Parallels virtual machine (running Windows XP) cannot get online.

Interestingly, if I change the MAC address in the virtual machine's parallels to match the MAC address of my MacBook, I can get network access in the virtual machine, but then it doesn't work in OS X .

I have a temporary workaround working by turning on Internet Connection Sharing in OS X, but that's technically in violation of my network's policies.

I've tried creating an arbitrary MAC address in the virtual machine preferences and registering it on the University network, but that doesn't seem to work.

What is the correct way to do this? Any advice?

I use MAC filtering, and defined an address for Parallels both in the VM and in the acess point, and it worked on the second try. The first time, it didn't like the address I created. You might try changing one low order digit in the card's address.

Or you could just use Internet sharing, and ignore the policy, or try to get permission since it's all on the same machine, or since it's all on the same machine, it may not be a policy violation after all.
