Map network drive on LAN?

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know if it's possible to map a network drive on a LAN using Parallels?

I'm currently using a Macbook, and would like to install Windows XP on it using Parallels, and a program that requires a mapped network drive to a main computer that is running windows Vista. I currently have this setup with an older laptop running XP without any problems, but would like to get rid of the old laptop and run the program off my Macbook. Would this be possible?!

I have the same issue trying to connect to another WinXP Machine.

Just installed Parallels Desktop 4 and Windows XP Pro on my new MacBook Pro. Mac OS found my PC WinXP OS and the shared drive just fine. But Parallels doesnt' show it, so I am currently stuck and unable to execute a WinXP Application using data from my old WinXP machine. I've seearch the Parallels User Manual and so far cannot find anything (I suspect it's there but perhaps using jargon this Windows brat doesn't understand). If anyone can help me on this I would be grateful!

So far though, I love the Parallels interface, and it's really funny but WinXp boots up faster (20 secs) than the Mac OS (25 secs) which is great really!

If you are running in Shared Networking modem, please try to access the server with fully-qualified name.
For example, my machine is named "sd" and is located in parallels.com. To connect to the machine, the name "sd.parallels.com" should be used. Just "sd" will not work.

If Bridged Networking works in your network environment, then all should work without any problems.

Just as a hint:
You can obtain the name of your domain by starting in Mac /Applications/Utilities/Terminal and running in it the command
cat /etc/resolv.conf

The command will output the domain name
