I recently purchased Parallels Desktop for Mac 5.0 from my university's bookstore (student license edition). When I purchased it I was given just a disc and a thumbdrive. There is no activation key written on either the disc or the thumbdrive, nor was I given a slip with the key on it. However, the program continues to ask for an activation key. I checked the contents of both the disc and the thumbdrive and was unable to find an activation key. If it matters, before this I installed the trial version and used it for the full 14 days. Now, of course, I can't boot my VMs and I don't have an activation key.
I am posting to help determine whether my vender made a mistake. I'm quite certain that I should have received a card with a key on it, but it is possible that the key is meant to be found on the disc or thumbdrive or that it isn't supposed to need a key. Based on previous dealings with this shop, I would not be particularly surprised if they screwed up.
