I have a Macbook Pro with XP installed as a VM with Parellel Desktop.

Everything seems to work fine with one exception, (which is probably me not having set something correctly - I hope).

When I launch XP directly (or indirectly by launching a windows application) the CD drive that was previously recognised by the MAC is only available through XP. If I switch to Finder (mac application) I can't access the CD drive - it isn't shown.

When I shut down the VM, the CD drive becomes available again to mac application.
I would be grateful for any advice.

    Mike

You can't have the cd drive at the same time in windows and mac osx. When you want your cd drive on the mac side when parallels is open you can disconnect the drive in menu off parallels.
