Missing Menu Items and Unplanned Reboots

So, I've noticed a trend. When I first boot an XP VM, I get a menu bar
with all the menu items:

After quitting (which puts the VM into standby), I get a menu bar
that's missing menu items:

When trying to quit, it appears that Parallels is putting the VM
into standby but then when I start Parallels, the VM has rebooted.

I suspect this isn't by design, yet it happens with both of my XP VMs.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what did you do to fix it?
I've only noticed this AFTER installing 5584.

Hi Barbatto,

Are you using the "Shut Down" option from the start menu of your VM? You should exit/shut down your VM from there first, after the VM has quit then close your Parallels Console.

I do use shutdown from the start menu when I specifically want to shutdown, but when I quit Parallels, I thought the behavior was for Parallels to put the VM into standby?

If I quit Parallels when it's in a state where it's missing menu items, it's pretty much a given that the VM will not properly go into standby and the next time I open the VM, it will start fresh. That's the behavior I'd like to correct if possible.

Did you install Parallels Tools?
Under tools center what is enabled?

Yes, Parallels tools is installed.

The following are enabled:
Clipboard
Time
Video
Mouse
Network
Disk Compacting
Shared Folders
Shared Apps
Coherence
 
I, too, am experiencing this behavior. I mostly notice it when I launch two virtual PCs (both running XP). One will have the full list of menus and the other will only have the 'Parallels' menu.
 
Change something inside parallels

I run into this problem too often.
When I notice it, I have resumed a SAV'ed operating system.
I solve it by changing something inside of Paralles, (e.g. reboot, sleep, hibernate, change a setting inside of windows/linux/OS)
