More Firewire features for Scanners

It would be great to use legacy scanner software with for example film scanners. Software for Nikon and Minolta film scanners isn't available for newer versions of Mac OSX. Parallels running older Mac OSX versions with full Firewire support would be a great solution for this.

Maybe Firewire could be used for other purposes as well on top of storage which is the only function supported at the moment.
