    MacBook Intel White, 2ghz/2gb/120gb
    MacOS 10.4.9
Win XP, all upgrades, 734mb to VM
    Network share over Airport

Add networking to the list of things that don't seem to want to come back if the VM has been suspended (via the Parallels toolbar, this instance).

I finally had to shut down the VM, shut down Paralllels, reboot the system, and then bring everything back up to get it to see the network, again.

    Pretty frustrating...

Did you do anything else? Install a VPN client for example, or make any changes to your OS X networking parameters? Got Boot Camp in the mix?

    No BootCamp, no other changes.

There is one other thing I can try when this happens again (likely): shutting down airport and bringing it back up, again.

That typically fixes external connections - maybe Parallels will reset the internal connection on recycling the network device.
