MS SQL Management Studio 2005

I'm having problems connecting to servers using Win XP and MS SQL Management Studio 2005. I get a connection error. I have made sure that the proper port is open in the Windows firewall settings. Can't seem to connect. Any advice? Perhaps has something to do with my IP address, Parallels is set up as Bridged Ethernet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
If your Windows in Bridged mode does aquire the IP address (you can check it in cmd using "ipconfig /all" command) then there is pretty much nothing you can tweak in Parallels since the virtual machine is already like a real PC in network.

However, it is important to know to which server you are connecting. i.e. you can not connect to MS SQL 2008 database using MS SQL Management Studio 2005:

I normally use a PC to connect using MS SQL 2005 logging in with my network ID/PW. I log into windows using the network ID on my VM and can access all the shared drives. Still stumped on this.
