Finally tried my V3M (an MTP device). Works like a charm in build 1970. Only problems I had were the USB errors others are reporting here. But once I unloaded the kernel extensions it worked fine.
As a side note, I recall this being common with VMware for Linux.... Linux always grabbed the USB device and I had to unload the kernel modules. Not sure what can be done about it but there should be some sort graceful way.
