Perhaps this has been asked, but can't find it.

Do I need a new CD/DVD driver in Windows XP Guest OS for buring CD/DVD... on my Macbook Pro running Parallels Desktop for Mac 3.x ? When an Black CD/DVD is inserted and connected in Windows environment, it complaint "D:\it's not accessible", I can burn CD/DVD under Mac side no sweat! Thanks.

Do you mean that this happens only when you try to open blank CD/DVD?
In any case please make sure that the virtual machine is configured to use the real the CD/DVD-ROM drive, not the image file. You can check this option on the Devices menu. To change the settings, stop the virtual machine and click the CD/DVD-ROM link on the Configuration Page to open its settings. Choose the Use CD/DVD-ROM option and select the proper drive from the list. Please don’t forget to restart Windows for the changes to take effect.

I did have the CD/DVD-ROM selected from the Devices menu.
The problem is that it complaint "D:\not accessible; Incorrect function" when you insert a blank CD/DVD and click on the D: drive. Below is the link of "How to Burn Cd/DVD Using Windows Xp Feature" I followed, so we'll see what is the problem:

I do not have any CD/DVD burner software installed, just want to use the one came with Windows XP features
as I replied previously. but Parallels did not behave as it in Windows XP SP3 when a blank CD/DVD was inserted.

Thanks for the reply.

My basic question is: how do the MacBook Pro (came with the super drive) users burn the CD/DVD (data) under Parallels Desktop 3.x ? I inserted a blank disc in a real PC/Windows with CD/DVD RW drive, it did not complain the error.

did you enable Windows CD/DVD burner software?
To use it, you should boot your windows with physical DVD drive connected.

You need to boot the Windows with the Connect to Default CD/DVD-ROM, othwerwise it won't show as a CD-DVD RW device. BTW, Where is the document about enabling CD/DVD Burner software ? -DC
 
I am not sure what mmika did mean, but usually starting VM with connected CD/DVD and have some burning software installed as Nero is enough to burn, with almost all CD?DVD models
 
I only followed MMika's point - I have to select/check the Default CD-DVD-OM BEFORE I start the Windows XP.
Note that I DO NOT have any burner software like Nero installed on the system. I just follow the instruction I included previously which you can burn CD/DVD data with the basic Windows XP feature.

The difference is that the CD/DVD drive would show as D:\CD/DVD RW if you select/check the Default CD-DVD before booting the Windows, otherwise, it'll show as D:\CD/DVD

Please stop Virtual machine , and in VM window click Configure
CD/DVD make sure that Real Device is selected
As for Nero, basic XP library, may not support several CD/DVDs which may be used in Apples line of production
