I had upgraded to 3214 a week ago to resolve an issue with the usb ports not working properly. Tonight a window prompted stating that I could download a free upgrade to version 3.0. When I did that, I was not able to use my activation key to get into the system, so I ran the uninstall on 3.0 and then tried to do an install of 3214 again. My virtual disk is still on my machine and when I install parallels, the install appears to operate correctly, but when I try to open my virtual drive I receive the following error: 'File ...XP/winxp.hdd seems to be not a regular file and cannot be used as a hard disk image.' I have scoured the faq's and online knowledge base, but cannot find anything to resolve this problem. How can I reinstall parallels and access my existing virtual machine? I did not have a backup of my machine/version before trying to install 3.0. I learned after the fact that I could not go directly back to my previous version. I'd prefer to not have to recreate the virtual machine as I have software on there that I will have to either purchase again or not be able to find.

    Thanks.

Send e-mail to parallels and ask for a new key.
I think you cant install version 3124 anymore because version 3.0 changes you vm hard drive.

Or did you make update before you installed 3.0?
