Ok, I'm going to pass this up to the world at large, since I'm out of ideas. Installed Sabayon 3.4 Loop 1, everything installed fine, but when I rebooted into the installed system, no network or sound. Was able to get the network running by manually creating the interface in /etc/iftab, but no such luck with sound. Looking at lsmod, snd_ad1889, snd_intel8x0, snd_ac97_codec and ac97_bus are loaded, and the device shows up under lscpi, so I can't think there's anything missing driver-wise. It's probably a case of the hardware not being properly set up like the network interface was, but where do I go to fix this?
