i've a problem with '3rd party' applicaion network connectivity.
IE, firefox, telnet can connect to an ip address & port
but 3rd party apps fail with the message 'bad access' which usually means 'cannot bind to a port'
to isolate the issue I've tried curl and it fails too.
my question is
is there a firewall of some sort that allows common applications but not unknows apps ?
