No Boot Device and No Operating System

Ok, I'm running OSX 10.5.8 and I created a WinXP Pro installation using Boot Camp with MacFuse overlaid so I can move files between the two. I just purchased and installed Parallels 4.0 but I keep getting problems when the VM tries to open.

I had a No Hard Drive detected error which I searched and resolved. I got the "No Boot Device" error and figured out how to enable the CD/Boot order.

I want to import the WinXP/Boot Camp configuration but the best I can do is get the VM to recognize my WinXP disc. It gets to the install screen but Enter and F3 don't do anything. Besides I don't want to install a new Windows setup I want to use the one I've been using since before I bought Parallels.

Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong? I really don't want to have to uninstall Windows and start all over!

This looks similar to what I was encountering last night. On a whim, I brought up Disk Utility and unmounted my BootCamp partition. The VM was then able to start. I wasn't able to experiment very much at that point, but it looks like if the BootCamp partition is not mounted, Parallels can launch the VM and connect to the HD, but if the partition is mounted, it fails. I'd suggest trying to unmount the partition and then start the VM.

I am also using WinXP Pro, and the partition is NTFS. I have MacFUSE and NTFS-3G installed for read/write access to the BootCamp partition. Is there any step I can take so that I don't have to go through this extra step of unmounting the partition before starting the VM?
