Hi, After upgrading to Parallels 7, my XP SP3 VM no longer has network access. If I type ipconfig at a command prompt, I get nothing - except another command prompt. The adapter - Parallels Ethernet Adapter #2 - is enabled and actually says connected in Network Devices. I've reinstalled Parallels Tools and rebooted the MAC and restarted Parallels and then the VM. I tried uninstalling the adapter, but Device Manager just hangs. I've also tried disabling it and reenabling it. I'm using shared networking and the adapter is configured to use DHCP. I had not had problems until starting the VM after the upgrade to Parallels 7. I've submitted a problem report 11957345. - Gordon
I wanted to add for everyone's benefit that I could uninstall the network adapter in safe mode. When I rebooted, the adapter name had changed to Realtek RTL8029(AS)-based Ethernet Adapter (Generic) #3.
From what version did you upgrade? If you upgraded from a version prior to 6, uninstalling Parallels Tools before upgrading is much more safe. The Realtek adapter is how the Parallels Virtual NIC presents itself to Windows. You should reinstall Parallels Tools after that device removal.
I think you should completely remove the parallel and reinstall it. May be it will works.. ____________ Orthohin
