No sound after installing parallels 3

Hi
I am new to the mac world., and am finding it quite daunting, after being told
that it was simple.
I installed parallels along with win xp pro and now I note I have no sound., either in windows or os.
I have searched the web and parallels forums for a solution,,but to date found none.
I have not downloaded a newer build? should I, but again will this fix the no sound
issue, which I did not have before installing parallels. Frustrated......

Parallels doesn't have any effect on sound in osx. Look in systempreferences off sound on mac side.

In parallels configurationscreen you should see this :

Thankyou heaps for that. I turned on my mac this morning and it was humming, so I turned it off, and reset the plugs, and the sound is now back. No more hum either. Weird.....
