no sound on 98 se vm

I am trying to setup a win98se vm. Everything is going great except that I have not sound playback. I have installed the tools and installed the ac97 driver as well as playing around with the properties for the vm sound. But for some reason, I cannot get any sound. The host os is WinXP w/ SP2 and all updates. This is my first time setting up a vm on parallels so not sure where to go from here.
