I installed build 3170 on a Mac Pro with 4GB RAM. I'm curious as to how to get the numeric keypad to function.

Is there a different keystroke combination?
 
Press the "clear" key on the numeric key pad. It's directly above the number "7". It's the equivalent of "NumLock" on a pc keyboard.
