This looks very familiar. I was having many problems with Parallels (.latest) freezing up my entire Mac (MacBook Pro, Mac OS X 10.4.9) randomly, maybe on the average of once every two hours but very randomly, and suddenly a few weeks ago, it was working like a charm.
One change I had made but had forgotten about was to take /Library/StartupItems/OpenAFS and move it to a directory I'd made myself for software I don't usually use -- /Library/StartupItems.NOTUSED/OpenAFS . Yesterday I needed OpenAFS for the first time in a while, started it up (sudo /Library/StartupItems.NOTUSED/OpenAFS/OpenAFS start), got into Parallels to update a Windows file with some info, and Windows was acting very unresponsive (taking 30 seconds to react to keypresses or even CTRL+ALT+DEL), and suddenly my entire Mac froze for the first time in weeks.
I rebooted, brought up OpenAFS again, used it, did the (sudo /Library.../OpenAFS stop), started up Parallels, went to lunch, came back and frozen solid again.
The storal of the mory is ... don't bring up OpenAFS and then try to use Parallels without rebooting your Mac in between.
