I am a new mac user trialling both PD8 and fusion 5 on a macbook pro retina. I have a critical application with requires openGL 3.1 (not supported on either). The application reports both PD8 and fusion 5 as having support for openGL 2.1. In PD8 I am unable to open a 3D window, but in fusion I get at least basic interaction. Are there any suggested tweaks or setting adjustments to improve performance? 3D acceleration is enabled and graphics switching in OS X disabled. Any news on support for newer version of openGL? I can switch to bootcamp for hardcore processing, but would like to at least be able to load a simple 3D window in a VM. Fusion offers this but PD has much nicer integration.
VMware Fusion 5 it is then I understand this is an issue for all virtualisation packages. However, given that I get different results with fusion compared with PD8 the implementation is obviously not the same. I hoped there might be something that can be adjusted. Without any suggestions it looks like I'll have to go with Fusion 5. Hopefully someone works out openGL virtualisation soon so we can properly use 3D applications.
