Ever since upgrading to Parallels 11 (from Parallels 10), I keep getting "Operation Timeout" when ever I try to start a new VM or even go into the Preferences for Parallels. I have followed this KB: http://kb.parallels.com/en/116216, but nothing has changed since uninstalling/reinstalling. I am on 10.10.5. Any ideas how to fix this problem? Thank you
Hello Peter, Could you please try the steps mentioned in this Knowledge based article and check if it helps in resolving the issue.
Thanks. The KB you provided did not help. The timeout occurs even when I go to Parallels Desktop -> Preferences. Any other thoughts?
I have just upgraded to Parallels 11 from P10 and I cannot run any VM's. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both P11 and P10. Everything works fine with Parallels 10 and nothing seems to work in parallels 11. Even P11 configurations hang with the "Operation Timeout" error. How do I get a refund for my upgrade to 11? It is unusable.
I, too, went back to v10. All is working well again. Is there anything that can be done to fix the problems with v11?
Guys, in order to investigate the issue further, please generate the problem report right after the reproducing the issue. Please use this KB to generate the report and reply us back with the report 8-digit ID number.
I have submitted an error report: 75211030. Other note, I reformatted my iMac's hard drive. I then loaded 10.10.5 fresh. After installing Parallels 11 fresh, I encountered the same exact problems. Please let me know if I can provide yo with any additional information.
One more thing: the network timeout problem brings about a lot of different problems reports. That is, I am prompted several times to create "problem reports" before I can finally move on. Here are a few more: 75211191, 75211270, 75211558, 75211578
I get the same errors, have sent in the bug reports, about 5 times, same as PeterC8, multiple time out messages. After the messages are ignored, then clicking on the vm again it finally loads, takes a long time. I also have the timeouts appearing just trying to load the Configure, but that never opens, just sits there greyed out with the progress spinner. So I can't configure anything and the VM is terrible to start, makes me very nervous each time. Also things like the video drivers quite often corrupt in Windows 10,desktop doesn't refresh properly, this is such a terrible upgrade, wish I hadn't installed it or paid Parallels to be their test dummy?!
Guys, thanks a lot for the additional information and provided reports. We've already escalated this issue to our Development team and once we receive any updates or workaround we will let you know. Thank you all once again.
Update: I upgraded to 10.11. Same problem with 'network timeout' while running El Capitan. During some of my troubleshooting, I did notice a possible 'workaround.' I have my VMs stored on an external Thunderbolt drive. I also have a USB 3.0 "backup drive" connected. When I disconnect the USB 3.0 backup drive, the "network timeout" issue goes away. So it appears to be that Parallels 11 takes issue with external drives. With Parallels 10, I could have all my external drives connected and use my VMs without issue. If I can provide any additional information, please let me know.
I have same problem here, I start Parallels and appear various windows with same error "Operation timeout", in Parallels 10 all was working good, I noticed problem when i updated to El Capitan, to open a virtual machine is too slow. My virtual folder are in a second disk in my MBP. I uninstalled Parallels and reinstalled, even a clean install of El Capitan with same results.
FYI. I installed the new build, 11.02 (31348)- no change. I still receive the "Network Timeout" message.
Will this issue ever resolve? I have payed for a software i can't use. Operation timeout and takes forever to startup. When windows is started i can't connect usb devices to virtual machine
Hi, the steps in Article ID: 122991 helped - but only for a short while. I then removed all my external (back-up) drives - the operation timeout problem was gone, AND I had quick response on software USB dongles when I plugged it in (Windows 10). I went through the process of adding the drives back, one by one, each time checking by opening Windows and adding the USB dongle. The whole operation took a while, but it seems that one of my external drives caused the problem. After 5 days everything is still running OK Hope this helps
I have tried everything. Reinstalled MacOSX, Parallels and Windows. No external drive used. Same problem. I have switched to Fusion 8. It Works. PROBLEM SOLVED
