try upgrading to the latest build what do you have to loose?

Sorry should have mentioned I had to do an archive and install becuse the 10.4 .9 dowmnload was corrupted and wouldn't install , then I couldn't shut down.
Also was told on here on a previos post that to upgrade parallels to the newer build to uninsall 1970 and install 3188 then find the vm of my windows xp and it should work, but I can't find the vm

Try looking in:
~/library/parallels/winxp
Where ~ is your home directory. This is where mine is...
