Parallels 16 & Bug Sur - Crash

Mac OS 11.0 Beta (20A53541) Big Sur
MacBook Pro 15 inch, 2016 16GB RAM

Start Max OS
Start Parallels
Start Windows 10 VM

Immediate computer crash. Not application, but computer itself crashes and restarts.
 
Change the hypervisor from Parallels to Apple. It will then work. Configuration > Hardware > CPU & Memory > Advanced Settings > Hypervisor (change to Apple) - you can leave Adaptive Hypervisor checked.
 
I tried the Hypervisor change but I still end up with a hung vm in a black box. They seem a little premature advertising version 16 for Big Sur.
 
I'm trying to change the hypervisor, but its saying "To be able to change the settings on this page, resume the virtual machine and then shut it down." I can't resume the virtual machine because my machine hard crashes when I try to run it. Any suggestions on how to shut down the VM w/o running it? Thanks!

You could use the Action Menu and select STOP - I think that will do it.

Sorry - just an idea. Personally I tried the Apple Hypervisor and it did not help for me. Just ended up with Parallels desktop taking all the CPU time and a 500mb disk image of my VM which never changed. I'd wait for an update - that's what I'm doing.
 
Hello guys, please update your Parallels Desktop to the latest build 16.0.1. and check the issue.
Please let us know if the issue still persists.
 
Here is a workaround to updating your Hypervisor setting if you cannot make the change in the configuration - due to being unable to resume the VM.
  1. Locate your VM file for this virtual machine.
  2. Right click on the VM file and select "Show Contents".
  3. Locate the file (which should be at or near the top) that is called "config.pvs"
  4. Open this file with TextEdit.
  5. Select the ENTIRE file and copy it.
  6. Open another text file on your desktop and paste the copied contents into this new file. Name it whatever you like, and save it. This is your backup in case there is a catastrophic problem.
  7. In the "config.pvs" file, locate this line:
    <HypervisorType>0</HypervisorType>
  8. Change the "0" to "1".
  9. Save the file
  10. Now retry starting your VM.
This was what Parallels Support just did for me, and it works now.

This worked for me! Thanks.
 
didn't work for me, a previously working windows 10 vm now causes a blank screen on MacBook, requiring me to force a reboot. Hypervisior is set to apple, tried restoring a snapshot, checked the kernel isn't being blocked in security.
