Parallels 2.1 vs 2.2

I bought Parallels 2.1 in a MAC store (retail box) earlier this year. I have been using a beta build since your beta builds ended because 2.2 doesnt accept my 2.1 serial number. Is this a pay for update? If so, why is there no upgrade pricing? I really would like to update to a final 2.2 build.
 
2.2 is a free update. I don't know if you should have received a new number or anything, but in any case, you should be able to use 2.2 (and also the upcoming 2.5). 3.0 will be a paid upgrade.
