Parallels 3.0 - Build 5603 - Impossible to apply update!

Hi Everyone,

I hope you can help! I am running v3 on Mac OSX 10.5.6, Parallels recently checked for updates, detected that one was available then downloaded the DMG to my Desktop. Upon completion is asked me whether I wanted to run the update - I clicked yes.

I have no got this far on 3 successive occasions - each time, after clicking yes, the machine's processor goes mental and locks. At one stage I waited 2 hours thinking it might complete in due time. Unfortunately no joy.

I have also tried quitting Parallels and double clicking the DMG file on the desktop at which point it tells me that it's an invalid file.

Can someone please assist??

to find direct link for your Parallels Desktop upgrade.
Please, keep in mind, that the locale (language) for upgrade package should be the same as you currently have (I mean if you have Parallels Desktop German installed, you should download and install upgrade package for German version etc.)
 
Thanks Flagg! I gathered this already.... However I am using English and I'm not sure whether it's British or American - how do I tell?

Check the name of the file you downloaded as an update. Check if it has EN or UK in its name. If it is EN, it's the American version, if it's UK - it is the British version.

OK - still haven't managed to sort this out, so would like to try and do so today :)

I (think) am running the British version - although not sure sure how to be positive. When I run the update it automatically down loads a file entitled "Parallels-Desktop-5626-Mac-en" which I believe is the US version.

Firstly - how can I be sure I am running the British version, and secondly how can I get the software to update itself to the British version rather than the EN version?

Hi Flagg,

No it does not work! I downloaded the files you gave me the link to, as soon as I executed the application I get a whirring colour wheel mouse cursor, and nothing more. It basically locks, uses all of my system resources and I have to force quit to be able to do anything!

Because of the upgrade I just tried to do I now longer have access to Parallels :(.

Could you (a) Tell me what do so that I can get back the old version, and (b) help me to find a way to upgrade to the latest build.
