Parallels 5.0 crashes when Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 loads

My base system is an Intel Mac Pro running Mac OS 10.6.1. I was running Windows 7 under Parallels for Mac 4.0. Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 was running on Windows 7. When I upgraded my system to Parallels for Mac 5.0, my Windows system crashed, requiring a clean install to restore the system.

When I attempted to load Kaspersky 2010 on my rebuilt Windows system, the Windows system again crashed, with an error message that Kaspersky 2010 had attempted to write on a read-only portion of memory.

Since the only change to my system has been the upgrade from Parallels 4.0 to Parallels 5.0, I assume that the cause of the crash is Parallels 5.0.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Have you solved it? How?

Same problem here. Downloaded the upgrade to Parallels 5 today as soon as it was installed It kept crashing my windows virtual machine. I created a new virtual machine and reinstalled Windows XP. Everything seemed fine until I installed KIS 2009. As soon as that was onboard I started getting System 32 Failure messages and the whole VM would crash to the point where I could only Force Quit the VM as it would not shut down. Never had a problem under Parallels 4.
 
I have found that Parallels 5.0 comes with KIS 2009. KIS 2009 is "hidden" in the "Install Parallels Internet Security" choice in the Virtual Machine menu. I don't recall any mention in the Parallels 5.0 documentation that KIS 2009 was part of the Parallels 5.0 package. I think this is a major shortcoming, as well as a disservice to any KIS users, not to mention this in the product literature. Anyway, if you do not attempt to load KIS 2010 and instead chose the Install Parallels Internet Security you will find yourself with the familiar KIS 2009 interface and security options.

I wrote to Kaspersky tech support about this problem. Their response was , basically, to make sure their were no remnant files from any anti-virus program in Parallels 5.0 before installing KIS 2010. They also gave very good instructions on doing that.

In light of what K had to say, there may be some KIS 2009 files in the basic Parallels 5.0 install. Going through the K cleansing procedure before installing KIS 2010 may remove any such files and allow a complete KIS 2010 installation. I have not done this as I do not want to find myself being forced to rebuild my system again from scratch. I have stayed with the Parallels 5.0 provided KIS 2009. Should you follow the K recommended procedures to remove any KIS 2009 remnant files in the basic Parallels 5.0 before loading KIS 2010 and find that it works, please let me know.
