Parallels 5 cannot connect to internet/network

I am on Mac OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.1

MacBook Pro with 4GB of ram.

I recently upgraded to Parallels 5 - it has been nothing but trouble.

Now, it will not connect to the internet! I have tried nearly everything I can find on these forums and more. I have tried the various settings.

Any help would be appreciated.

Please

1) Switch to the Shared Networking (it is default)

2) Make sure that Parallels Tools are installed

If this doesn't help, click Start -> Run and execute cmd.exe. Type in the appeared window command "ipconfig /all" (without quotes). Stretch the window to make all the output fit and without closing the window, click menu of Parallels Destkop "Help"->"Report a Problem", send a problem report (it is not necessary to provide description) and post here the report ID.
 
Where can I find the "Bridged" network type? In Parallels (outside the XP window)? Or in the XP window? Where exactly?

It is in the configuration of VM. Open the VM configuration dialog (for example, by pushing the button on the bottom-right of ParallelsWindow) -> Hardware -> Network Adapter
 
Well that may be the problem. If I click on Hardware I have these options:
1) Boot Order
2) Video
3) CD/DVD 1
4) Hard Drive 1
5) Printer Port 1

There is no "Network Adapter"

Also when I go to System Preferences in Snow Leopard > Sharing
I can select "Parallels Shared Network Adapter #0" from the "Share your connection from:"
Then I need to select either
1) FireWire
2) Ethernet 2
3) Airport
4) Ethernet 1

Choosing Airport and then clicking on "Internet Sharing" breaks the connection for my Mac. Not ideal.

So that said, any way for Parallels to connect to the internet?

For the first, you need to disable Internet Sharing back again. The Parallels Desktop doesn't require this and even sometimes enabling this option may block the internet for Parallels

You likely need to click on "+" sign and add the Network Adapter. Make sure its type is SharedNetworking

If this won't help, please follow my instructions from the top of the thread
