Parallels 5 / Win XP lost internet connection

I have XP images in Parallels Desktop 5 on two different macs (mac pro, macbook pro). Recently, both independently stopped connecting to the internet at around the same time. No amount of switching the network connection type changes anything (bridged, shared, host-only, etc.) ... in all cases, XP cannot connect to the 'net at all.

I didn't change anything with either parallels install or XP and both problems happened at the same time. The only possibly relevant thing I can think of is that around the same time this happened, I upgraded both macs from OS X 10.6.6 to 10.6.7. Is there any chance there's a known incompatibility between parallels 5 and 10.6.7 that prevents networking from functioning?

Anything else I can try?

I'd be tempted to follow your intuition and take a look at what you did on your upgrade to 10.6.7 as both of your systems were impacted. Presumably your hosts can both connect to the internet?

I'm running 10.6.7 on a MBP and have had no issues with connectivity over any updates to either OS X or Parallels.

You may as well check if you are running the latest Parallels 5 version. Build 5.0.9376 (as far as I know). Don't rely on 'check for upgrades' from within Parallels to find this update. I downloaded it a couple of days ago directly from parallels.com but can't now locate the link to download V5.

I would uninstall Parallels (because it is easy to do) and reinstall it, then boot it up and see.

Before doing this, however, you might try to 'reinstall parallels tools' from the Virtual Machine menu.

make sure that VM is in Shared Networking mode. If this doesn't help, please click Start -> Run and execute cmd.exe. Type in the appeared window command "ipconfig /all". Then, without closing the window, click Parallels Destkop menu "Help"->"Report a Problem", send a problem report (it is not necessary to provide description) and post here the report ID.
