Parallels 6 BSOD

I'm am sorely disappointed, yet again, with the release of this new product.

Installed P6 and it's BSOD with Windows XP64 after a few minutes of gaming. WTF? Haven't you sorted this out at the beta stage? I experienced the same problems when offered the chance to test the beta and had to back it out. A month later and it's still an issue!

I'd like to give you the BSOD details, but being windows it's particularly craptastic at giving me any information to help you, other than the 'You have a device driver problem'. (Er, yes, I know, perhaps you can tell me which one, you POFS? It's why I bought moved to a Mac in the first place....).

If there's any diagnostic tools I can run to identify these issues, then please let me know.

I experience this under heavy gaming conditions, it's worse if I have two VM's running at the same time. This scenario was fine under P5.

I've attached a few screenshots of the BSOD> Windows log does not report much, so no help there.

I have noticed that a reboot of the *MAC* has helped things? It had been running the MAC and the Xp64 VM for most of the day. After the MAC reboot, things have been a lot better?

Maybe it's a mac<->VM issue, although I've selected the 'isolate from Mac' options in the security tab.

It does seem as this is a problem when running two VM's.

If I run one VM then I can run for a few hours without it BSOD.

If I run two VM's (One XP64 running 3D game, one XP32 running business software) then the XP64 VM will BSOD after 30 minutes or so.

Windows is about to send the following info to MS

I've attached some files from Windows that may be useful? They include the small DMP file and an XML file that contains a lists of the drivers that are installed. I tried to parse the DMP file, but it's not much use without the pdb files. The final analysis reads "Probably caused by: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+79cd4)

It crashed around 20:39:37. But nothing useful in there, either.

Cool, nice to know!

I've run both Linux and Windows at the same time, but never multiple Windows VMs at the same time. Wonder if it's hardware or a software issue..

<sigh>

Version 6 is just to buggy. The recent update slowed my gaming to a crawl, which may or may not be related to the fact that it crashed my mac during the install.

I've gone back to version 5 and can no longer help problem solve this issue. Let some other schmuck debug it.

Really pissed off that Parallels have release such a poor product - just look at all the complaints of BSODs reports in the forums.

I will never be tempted by a new version release of Parallels. I will wait 6 months if I ever upgrade again.
 
I did upgrade three days ago. Since then I had more than 5 BSODs every day. Running Windows 7 32bit and some Office applications I also had the impression that the machine is slower after the upgrade.

How do I go back to Parallels 5?

To get back to P5, you need to download and install the old image. Hopefully there is a link on the site for it somewhere.
 
I tried to go back to 5, uninstalled 6 then re-installed 5. I could not get it to take my pd5 reg number. Kept getting invalid reg message even though I just cut and pasted from my listed regs numbers under my account.
How did you get it to work?
