I normally run Windows 7 on my Macbook via BootCamp and use it every day for work and it has all my files there. I rarely boot up OSX but last week I did and installed Parallels 6. Ever since I did this, I can't boot up Windows 7 (holding down Alt and chhosing a startup disk). Instead I get a black screen and an error message saying 'A disk read error occoured. Press Ctrl Alt Delete. Doing that produces no results. Have I lost my Windows 7 partition and files? Also, when I am choosing a new VM in Paralelles, there is no option to choose a BootCamp partition. I usually select an option which reads 'Choose later' and then in the preferences, under HD1 I target the Windows partition. Paralells wont boot up my VM that way either. Please help. Have raised a support ticket via Parallels several days ago but have not yet heard anything back.
You are not alone. See http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=106579 and http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=106666 We have both experienced complete failure of Windows 7 installations. Open a ticket with Parallels and if you do not have support insist that they look at it for free as there are more and more people experiencing failures of Windows 7 under Parallels 6.
