Hi,
Can anyone assist? I have an iMac 27" with the following partitions.
1. iMac HD - OSX Snow Leopard - Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
2. DATA - Formatted to FAT32
3. BOOTCAMP - Windows 7 (created via bootcamp assistant)
I have Parallels desktop 5 installed with 2 virtual operating systems setup so I can see which setup performs better for my needs
setup 1. Virtual install of Windows 7
setup 2. Install of bootcamp running windows 7 (as listed in item 3 above)
When I boot up computer & select Bootcamp Windows 7, the following drives are listed:
c:\BOOTCAMP
E:\iMac HD
m:\DATA
when I am running parallels with setup 2, the following drives are listed:
c:\BOOTCAMP
E:\Local disc
m:\Local disc
when i click drive M: a window pops up labeled "location is not available" inside window it says 'm:\ is not accessible. The volume does not contain a recognizable file system.......bla bla.
I expect drive E: to not be recognizable due to it being the OSX drive, but why doesnt parallels running bootcamp read a FAT32 partition.
As a work around, whilst in OSX I can share the drive labeled 'DATA' with parallels. Then in windows simply map the network location as a drive letter of my choice. The only problem now is that M: is already taken and I have to select another.
Most of the time I will be using parallels using bootcamp, but every so often I wish to boot up in Bootcamp when I have a big file to work on. I wish for my data to be on the same drive letter (M
as the software I use needs to reference a consistant drive for operation.
Any help would be appreciated.
