Parallels Desktop won't start

Last night I stopped my Windows XP virtual machine in Parallels like I normally do, and put my iMac to sleep. This morning when I tried to go back into my Parallels Windows XP desktop I get an error message "The application Parallels Desktop quit Unexpectedly".
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Parallels, same problem.
I even tried disabling external hard drives, unplugging network cable and modem and repeating uninstall and reinstall. It seems there is nothing I can do to get Parallels Desktop to run.
Please can someone give me some direction here besides the uninstall / reinstall option.
 
I can't get into the Parallels Desktop at all to determine the version, but if I open Parallels Explorer and go to About...., it tells me Build 4128.
