"Parallels Desktop" would like to control this computer using accessibility features"

After a couple of days running a Windows 11 VM in Parallels on a 2021 MacBook Pro with Monterey, I see this message:

""Parallels Desktop" would like to control this computer using accessibility features."

Is it safe to allow this control? What is Parallels asking to control?

This kb article says "This procedure is required to allow macOS control the entire Mac keyboard (modified keys in particular)...." That sentence does not make sense as written; there must be a typo somewhere. Should that read "This procedure is required to allow Parallels to control the entire Mac keyboard..."?

And why is Parallels asking for this access only now, after two days of running the VM?

 

I have the same question. I encountered the prompt today, about two months after setting up my VM.
